Parental Involvement

We actively encourage parental involvement. We also have an open access policy and during the settling in process we provide all parents/carers with a ‘Welcome Pack’ This contains useful information about our nursery and facilities available. This pack should be retained for reference.

Your co-operation in easing your child’s admission into the nursery will be very much appreciated. Our settling in policy can be seen by clicking on this link policy.

Record Keeping

Every child in nursery has a development profile. Through careful observations and close interactions with each child we can record important stages in their development, build up their profile and identify their individual achievements, showing progression. Children and their families are actively encouraged to contribute to these records.

Sleep

We will at all times supervise the children during rest and sleep, using sleep monitors, in our cosy well ventilated sleeping areas. Children do not share cots, beds or bedding.

Nappies

Nappies for your child are to be provided by the parents/carers. The nursery has strict hygiene and safety policies, which are observed at all times. We will be happy to assist you when your child is ready to commence toilet training.

Meals

We provide nutritious home cooked meals with health and variety in mind and cater for individual children’s dietary requirements. The nursery has achieved the ‘Heartbeat Award’ for the food we serve and the highest rating of 5 stars following the ‘Scores on the Doors’ inspection for the hygiene standards in our kitchen.

A weekly menu is displayed for parent’s perusal. The nursery requires milk feeds for young babies to be prepared daily in advance by parents/carers. Children under two years of age can be provided with breakfast if required.

Behaviour Management

The nursery has a written behaviour management policy which is available on request.

Whilst in our care no child will be physically punished or humiliated.

Sickness

Any child suffering from diarrhoea and sickness or any other contagious illness, should be kept at home. Should a child develop an illness whilst at nursery, you will be contacted. Please ensure that you indicate where you can be contacted during nursery hours. Only doctor/pharmacy prescribed medicine can be administered at nursery after you have signed a medicine administration form, giving clear instructions regarding, dosage etc.

Insurance and Outings

We carry Public Liability insurance and whilst in our care the children (with parent/carer consent) will be taken out of the nursery environment to extend their experiences.

Health and Safety

We are a non-smoking establishment who request for the health and safety of the children in our care that parents/carers respect this ruling whilst on the premises. The nursery has achieved gold level in the ‘Stockport Healthy Workplace Award’ for its commitment to health and safety practice and promoting health issues within the staff team.

The nursery meets all current fire safety regulations. We have a fire alarm system, which includes fire bells, smoke detectors in every nursery room and hallways, emergency lighting, fire extinguishers, a fire blanket and fire doors. Regular fire drills are carried out so that both the nursery team and children are familiar with the required procedures.

Please ensure that your child has named sun cream, sun hats and suitable clothing when the weather warrants it.

Safeguarding

We recognise that all children have a right to protection from abuse. We take seriously our responsibility to protect and safeguard the welfare of all children.

Security

For the security of your child it is expected that in the event of someone other than yourselves or nominated carers collecting your child, the nursery must be notified in advance. The nursery has a key pad security system to gain entry. For the safety of all children in this nursery we do not allow parents/carers/staff/visitors to use mobile phones whilst on the nursery premises excepting the staff/office area.
